Oil and Jazz

Sadly, until recently, I have just started using oil paints for the first time. Up until this point I have been comfortable dabbling in acrylics and occasional watercolor, but one day, out of the blue, I decided to grab a small tube or two of oil paints and see how I felt about it. Needless to say, it was love at first stroke. Even as I experimented with my newly discovered medium, I felt like I had missed out on numerous learning opportunities by opting for business school rather than art school. Regardless, this experience made me want to redo all my old paintings still lying around and even create some new paintings using oils.

Below is one of my first oil paintings I have done...ever.

Jazz has also been an element of inspiration in my life recently, specifically John Coltrane. My new found love of oil painting and jazz has caused me to create more theme focused paintings. The three paintings below are works in progress.
