The more I paint, the more I realize how much of my inspiration is drawn from the music I listen to. In this digital age, I still can't let go of the notion of making trips to the record store to look at album artwork and pick up an LP or two from an artist I've been a fan of for a while, or just recently discovered. The best part of this experience is getting the opportunity to put flip through the liner notes of the disc jacket as I listen to an album. Needless to say, I probably spend way too much money on music. Anyway, the painting below is a work in progress, inspired by a song from an emcee out of Indianapolis that goes by Sirius Blvck called "Yung Vultures". Check out the song below and more of his tracks on Soundcloud.
The painting was meant to capture the (or more or less my own) emotion of being young and angry. I remember at one point in my life all of my pictures with friends involved a beer can and a middle finger. This painting in a sense, immortalizes this time for me. It was created with a variety of medium, but mostly acrylics.
